COIL INNERSPRING UNIT:
This is an all wire, special 312 coil spring unit and is constructed of rows of 13-gauge, 5 turn, cylindrical coils, 6 ½” high, connected by a 17-gauge helical at right angles to the long axis of the unit. The coils, joined by the helical, prevent any lateral slippage of the coil. In addition, the connection allows for better body support combined with surface comfort conformity. All coils are not less than .092 inch diameter high-carbon steel spring wire. The helicals are not less than .054 inch diameter high-carbon steel spring wire. A 6-gauge border wire which has a mean diameter of at least .1483 inch is secured to the outer row of coils by means of a 17-gauge helical which attaches with a minimum of three turns. The border wire provides the support framework for the seating usage and is butt-welded at the ends.
TEMPERING:
The unit is twice tempered. First, each coil is individually tempered and then the entire assembled unit is tempered at 475 degrees F. The tensile strength of the following components is: Coils 215,000 to 260,000 PSI, Helicals 240,000 to 280,000 PSI, Borders 185,000 to 210,000 PSI.
INSULATION AND UPHOLSTERY:
Primary Insulator: An insulator pad is placed over and fastened to each side of the innerspring unit.
Upholstery Layer: Two, 1” high compression urethane foam pads on each side over the insulator pad. The secondary pad is fastened to the unit completely.
COVER:
The cover is then placed over the insulator and upholstery material and fastened by the flanging process.
QUILTED TICKING:
The ticking is a damask or knit fabric, 1” foam, 1 ounce Dacron, FR
Barrier, quilted ticking. The top and bottom panels are seamless.
FLANGING:
The flange consists of a strip of high tensile fabric, machine sewn ¾” inside the outer hem of the top and bottom panels. The entire insulation and upholstery filling is securely anchored to the edge of the unit in the form of a snug inner-roll fastening the flanging material to the coils with hog rings. The flanging process reinforces the edges and keeps the filling material from shifting.
BORDER:
Boarders are made of the specified ticking and are in one piece with the ends securely sewn to each other with FR Barrier quilted to ticking.
IDENTIFICATION:
Each mattress will have a law label attached indicating compliance with the legal requirements of the state in which it was manufactured, and will also show the name and address of the manufacturing location and certify that all materials are new.
This mattress conforms to Federal Mattress Flammability Standard and Consumer Product Safety Commission Flammability Standard 16 CFR Part 1633 listed in the Federal Register on July 1, 2007
FOUNDATION SYSTEM
FRAME:
The foundation frame is constructed of seasoned on kiln dried #2 yellow pine and is warp resistant. The frame is a square 1” x 6” with 8 cross slate plus the end slats. All corners are cut with a 3” radius and the bottom edges are chamfered with 1/8” bevel. All frames have center support rails. All end and side rails are reinforced with stiffeners to add to the rigidity of the frame.
All wood stock is 11/16” minimum finished dimension:
- 2 end rails 3 ½” wide
- 10 end stiffeners 4” wide
- 1 center rail 3 ½” wide
- 2 side rails 5 ½” wide
- 8 cross slats 2 ½” wide
The frame is securely nailed and comes braced diagonally rigid.
INSULATION:
A high-test corrugated board is securely fastened to the wood slat frame.
UPHOLSTERY LAYER:
A 1” layer of high compression urethane foam is securely fastened to the wood frame.
TICKING:
The ticking is woven fabric designed specifically for hotels. The panel is seamless and the border is one piece with the ends securely sewn to each other, with FR Barrier quilted ticking.
DUST COVER:
The bottom of the wood foundation is enclosed by non-woven sheeting Bondex #10, which is stapled to the perimeter of the wood frame.
